At 10:00 a.m. on September 27, 2018, the school opening ceremony was held by Meilian Experimental School, No. 1 Middle School Affiliated to Central China Normal University. Leaders presented at the ceremony were Xia Chunyin, Deputy Director of Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Education; Zhang Jianyu, Standing Committee Member of CPC Dongxihu District, Head of District Publicity, First Secretary of Education and Work Committee of Dongxihu District Committee; Liu Dong, Deputy Head of Dongxihu District Government; Ke Yifang, Head of Dongxihu District Education Bureau; Pan Yunan, Deputy Head of Dongxihu District Education Bureau; Zhou Pengcheng, Principal of CCNU No.1 Middle School; Wang Zhong, Party Secretary; Tao Tao, Deputy Head; Song Tao, Principal Assistant; and all board members of Meilian Experimental School, No. 1 Middle School Affiliated to Central China Normal University. In addition, all the teachers and students as well as the parents attended in full dress. At the ceremony, Principal Zhou Pengcheng, Ms. Jin Qi, and Wu Xingrui delivered speeches as representatives of leaders, parents and students respectively.

As the only branch school currently set up in Hankou District by the CCNU No.1 Middle School, the Meilian Experimental School is jointly organized by the CCNU No.1 Middle School and Meilian Group. It is a private school in nine-year system. It is a pilot school for the reform of mixed schooling system. It not only meets the requirements of free entrance for compulsory public education within the district, but also implements bilingual teaching for independent enrollment in Wuhan. The school recruited students for the first time this autumn, targeting the corresponding school-age children within the district. At present, the school had enrolled 78 students for two classes in grade one.

Zhou Pengcheng, Principal of CCNU No.1 Middle School, said at the opening ceremony that this school had always been committed to promoting the all-round and individual development of students. He hoped that the newly established school could explore and study the learning and growth laws of primary school students, understand the teaching laws of primary school education, extend education to the lower grades, promote the connection of education at all stages of primary school, junior high school and senior high school, and further promote the serialization and integration of education and the integration of student training. Principal Zhou added that it was the responsibility of famous schools to spread high-quality school-running ideas, experience and scientific management methods to more regions so that more children can receive high-quality education. This joint school-running was also an important measure to integrate domestic and foreign high-quality educational resources and explore future schools for CCNU No.1 Middle School.

Meilian Experimental School would adhere to the educational goals of CCNU No.1 Middle School and take the national courses as the core to establish a classified course system, strengthen the cultural, art, physical and quality education, and cultivate students' sustainable learning abilities, cooperative hands-on abilities and problem-solving abilities. For this reason, this school had built many featured classrooms – the ecological garden of 200 square meters for students to grow plant and raise animals; the planetarium built on the top floor of the teaching building; two-story maker classrooms; woodworking workshops that train students' manual skills, etc.. Meanwhile, this school employed excellent foreign teachers to vigorously develop the bilingual teaching so that students can face the world and the future.

At present, in addition to the main campus of high school, the CCNU No.1 Middle School has also set up branches in the province including Hubei Huayi Boarding School, Guanggu Branch School of the CCNU No.1 Middle School, Fuxing School of the CCNU No.1 Middle School and Guanggu Tangxun Lake School of the CCNU No.1 Middle School. The CCNU No.1 Middle School has also established branches in other provinces, such as Xinjiang Bole Branch of the CCNU No.1 Middle School, Hainan Tunchang Siyuan School of the CCNU No.1 Middle School, Beijing Chaoyang School of the CCNU No.1 Middle School and Guiyang Baiyun Jiahe School of the CCNU No.1 Middle School, forming a collectivized school-running mode.
